The Best Paint Finish for Bathrooms

Why bathroom paint peels, the moisture-resistant paints we trust, and the prep that decides everything.

Bathroom paint peels for two reasons: poor extraction and the wrong product. Get those right and a bathroom can hold its finish for years.

Use a proper bathroom emulsion

Standard matt emulsion is not made for steamy rooms. We mostly use either Dulux Easycare Bathroom+ or Crown Bathroom Mid-Sheen — both are mould-resistant and built to handle moisture.

Two coats — minimum, always

One coat on a bathroom is asking for failure. Two full coats, with the first allowed to fully dry, gives the membrane the moisture-resistance is meant to deliver.

Don't skip the extraction conversation

If your fan is undersized or vents into the loft, no paint will save you. We're happy to advise on extraction at the same visit.
